At Espinof we have already reviewed both the best Netflix movies in 2022 and this year’s essential cinema that you can see in Amazon Prime Video Y the most notable movies of 2022 available in Disney+, but we were still missing the other big platform. Now we are going to solve it with our list of the 7 best movies of 2022 in hbo max until now.
The reason for the delay is that HBO Max It is one of the big platforms that has the fewest films of 2022 available in its catalog and I also didn’t want to include titles that I didn’t think were worthy of being included here so that more would come out. For example, two productions as powerful as “Don’t worry, dear” and “Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets” have been left out.
If this year’s lists fall short, you can also take a look at the best Netflix movies of 2021, the best cinema of last year on Prime Video or the essential movies of 2021 on Disney +. And also look at the review that my colleague Albertini has made of the best series of 2022 and the best miniseries of the year. Without further ado, let’s go with the chosen HBO Max:
‘Five wolves’
Address: Alauda Ruiz de Azúa. Distribution: Laia Costa, Susi Sánchez, Ramón Barea, Mikel Bustamante, José Ramón Soroiz, Amber Williams, Lorena López, Leire Ucha, Elena Sáenz, Asier Valdestilla García.
A remarkable approach to the always complete theme of motherhood that is, on its own merits, one of the best films of Spanish cinema of this 2022. The debutante Alauda Ruiz de Azua surprises with an honest and heartfelt approach that hits so well showing the weight of motherhood in an excellent Laia Costa as in her role as a daughter and the relationship she has with an also great Susan Sanchez.

‘DC League of Superpets’ (‘DC League of Super-Pets’)
Address: Jared Stern and Sam Levine. voice cast: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Marc Maron, Keanu Reeves
Superheroes were born as people aimed at the smallest of the house, something that has been lost over time. Here DC recovers that spirit with a nice adventure that is not going to change anyone’s life, but it does offer a generous dose of fun for the whole family that invites you to get carried away and spend some time without asking for pears from the elm tree.

‘The Williams Method’ (‘King Richard’)
Address: Reinaldo Marcus Green. Distribution: Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn, Andy Bean, Kevin Dunn, Craig Tate, Dylan McDermott
Everything pointed to the fact that it was going to be the film that we would all remember for giving its first Oscar to Will Smithbut in the end everything was clouded by his aggression against Chris Rock. Beyond that, perhaps not everything necessary affects the darker side of Richard Williamsbut Smith is quite inspired and works well as an appetizer for the inevitable biopic of Venus and/or Serena Williams.

‘Elvis’
Address: BazLuhrmann. Distribution: Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Richard Roxburgh, Helen Thomson, David Wenham, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kodi Smit-McPhee, Dacre Montgomery, Luke Bracey
The director of ‘Moulin Rouge’ made a grand return to musical cinema with this biopic about the King of Rock in which the performances of Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. It is true that certain excesses of its own author hamper the final result a bit, but the film always has a lot of energy, largely due to Luhrmann’s work behind the camera, and handles very well the complicated relationship between its two main characters.

‘kimi’
Address: Steven Sodebergh. Distribution: Zöe Kravitz, Erika Christensen, Emily Kuroda, Jaime Camil, India de Beaufort, Devin Ratray, Jacob Vargas, Byron Bowers, Caleb Emery, Leona Britt, Noelle E Parker, Derek DelGaudio, Raymond Power
A solvent and straight to the point thriller -it doesn’t even last 90 minutes- that proposes a technological enigma that first arouses curiosity and then hooks until everything is solved directly and forcefully. Eye also to the good work of Zoe Kravitz supporting the dramatic weight of the function.

‘The Batman’
Address: Matt Reeves. Distribution: Robert Pattinson, Zöe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson, Con O’Neill, Barry Keoghan, Gil Perez-Abraham, Peter McDonald
We have already seen many versions of the Gotham superhero, but the one that concerns us now is probably the one that works best as a cover letter, both for the remarkable portrayal of a corrupt city and for the ambitious approach with a ‘Seven’ atmosphere of Matt Reeves. In addition, it has a great cast well commanded by Robert Pattinson.

‘The Fallout’
Address: Megan Park. Distribution: Jenna Ortega, Shailene Woodley, Julie Bowen, Maddie Ziegler, John Ortiz, Niles Fitch, Will Ropp, Austin Zajur, Yindra Zayas, Lumi Pollack
An intense and remarkable drama that explores how to deal with surviving a massacre at school, while also striking the right tone to handle the torrent of emotions without becoming an overdose of dramatic scenes. One of the main culprits that makes it so worthwhile is Jenna Ortegawho is having an impressive 2022.
