A week away from the anniversary date of the birth of Vicente Fernandezin Plaza La Alameda, in Los Angeles, California, unveiled a statue on February 10 to honor him.
Such as it was announced at the beginning of the monththe inauguration of the statue took place this Friday morning with the presence of the widow of the musical icon, Mrs. Cuquita Abarcaas well as his daughter Alejandra and his grandchildren Valentina, Emiliano and América, all of them offspring of “The foal”in addition to dozens of admirers.
The statue, which shows the figure of Chente riding a horse, is a copy of the one found at Rancho Los Tres Potrillos, where the remains of the “Charro de Huentitán” rest, made by Sergio Garval, which measures just over 3 meters tall and weighs four tons.
The copy installed in Plaza La Alameda was designed in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, cast in Mexico and transported by land to Los Angeles.
The site in the United States that was chosen to honor the interpreter of “Volver, Volver” is one of the most representative for the Latino community.
“I am very happy to see so many people who love Vicente. Thanks to all the organizers who made this sculpture possible here, in this beautiful square. Thanks to all the Latinos, and may they continue to love Vicente how i want it Thank you, thank you, thank you”, said Cuquita after the inauguration of the effigy.
The party for the unveiling of the statue will continue over the weekend with live music from groups such as Mariachi Cielito Lindo and heavy group.
Vicente Fernandez, who passed away on December 12, 2021 as a result of a multi-organ failure, he would be turning 82 on February 17.
