    The Seville Festival has a special color. No one would imagine that behind the rooms of a shopping center, next to the Sánchez Pizjuán new stories are being told, discovering new ways of narrating, taking risks in a world of cinema in which it seems that everything has been said. This year, the festival’s list of winners (although I don’t quite agree) comes to emphasize that in the world of cinema there is still much to say.

    The winner, from trial to trial

    Between the this year’s winners in its different categories we have great movies like ‘Close’, risks such as ‘Holy Spider’ or even films made by and for a new generation, as is the case with ‘Rodeo’. Let’s take a look at the record.

    Best film: ‘Saint Omer’ (Alice Diop)

    Grand Jury Prize (ex aequo): ‘Close’ (Lukas Dhont) and ‘Fogo Fatuo’ (Joao Pedro Rodrigues)

    best direction: Pietro Marcello (‘Scarlet’)

    Best actress (ex aequo): Julie Ledru (‘Rodeo’) and Tsar Amir Ebrahimi (‘Holy Spider’)

    best Actor: Eden Dambrine (‘Close’)

    Best screenplay: ‘Saint Omer’

    best photography: ‘Slaughterhouse’

    best montage: ‘The children of others’

    Best Spanish Film Direction: Carlos Pardo Ros for ‘H’

    Best Film (Extraordinary Stories): ‘Blue jeans’ (Georgia Oakley)

    Best Film (Andalusian Panorama): ‘Like a squirrel in the water’ (Mayte Gómez Molina and Mayte Molina Romero)

    Best Film (The New Waves): ‘Aftersun’ (Charlotte Wells)

    Best Film (The New Waves – Nonfiction): ‘Viagem ao sol’ (Ansgar Schaefer and Susana de Sousa Dias)

    Best Film (Permanent Revolutions): ‘Afterwater’ (Dane Komlijen)

    Audience Grand Prix (EFA Selection): ‘Tori and Lokita’ (Dardenne Brothers)
