A new production joins the ranks of Netflix and this time the star will be the Latino icon john gabrielwho for more than 40 years delighted the public with great successes that remain valid to this day.
The entertainment giant announced that the interpreter of songs like “Eternal Love” and “Until I Met You” will have his own documentary with unpublished material to which access was achieved after reaching an agreement with the singer-songwriter’s asset administrators.
“Through this agreement, Netflix will gain access to the music of Juan Gabriel and aspects of his life never before seen through the extensive archive of materials about the artist,” it was detailed in a statement.
So far it is known that The documentary will be directed by the multi-award-winning María José Cuevas (‘Bellas de noche’ and ‘La Dama del Silencio: El caso Mataviejitas’) and produced by Laura Woldenberg and Ivonne Gutiérrez, who were in charge of the production of Netflix’s acclaimed feature documentary, ‘The Three Deaths of Marisela Escobedo’ and the documentary series ‘1994’.
For their part, the singer-songwriter’s family said they were excited because their father’s life was honored through a production of this caliber and that it could be available to their fans around the world.
“We are very excited about this collaboration with Netflix, together with María José Cuevas and Mezcla, to launch the documentary about my father’s personal life and musical career. For quite some time we have wanted to bring an adaptation of his true story to the screen. We are confident that we will be able to work closely with the team we have assembled to bring your true story to life.“, declared Iván Aguilera, son of Juan Gabriel.
Although it was announced that the making of the documentary will begin this year in the United States and Mexico, the release date remains unknown.
