Netflix has canceled its most erotic original series, Sex/Life starring Sarah Shahi (person of interest, Black Adam), Mike Vogel and Adam Demos. This tells the story of a mother living in an American suburb who, when remembering the sexual life she had with her ex-partner, makes her face the present of being in a very traditional marriage with her past much more interesting.
The series, based on the novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton, premiered its second season a few days ago. But immediately Netflix has announced its cancellation. The first season became not just a hit, but a viral phenomenon for a fully frontal nude scene by actor Adam Demos. 67 million homes watched the episode in question.
The announcement of the cancellation of Sex/Life was communicated to Entertainment Weekly where a Netflix representative explains that “the second season offers a happy ending for the main characters, allowing the series to conclude in a way that is satisfying for the audience.”
But what happened behind the scenes of Sex/Life may reveal the true reasons why the series ended up being cancelled.
“I will never work with Netflix again after this”
In an interview with Sarah Shahi on the podcast Not skinny but not fatthe actress explained that she felt quite uncomfortable during the recording of the second season of Sex/Life.
“I’m not going to minimize it, but I definitely didn’t get the same support that I got during the first season from the people who worked on the show. It became a very different thing for me, and I’m not afraid to say it. I had a hard time working with that material. I’m not going to work with Netflix after this, but I can’t lie, it was a real challenge.”
Sarah Shahi also complained that she had very few scenes with Adam Demos, her current partner, whom she met during the recording of the first season of Sex/Life. “It only appears for 60 seconds.”
Lastly, he complained about some of the show’s scripts and plot lines. “There are some things that I just couldn’t support, and it was a real challenge. But it’s part of what I do, as I won’t always agree with what a producer or director does, but it’s my job to make it believable.”
“Do Sex/Life It was a dream come true”
But, although the creator of Sex/LifeStacy Rukeyser has assured in an interview that, “although the series was canceled for her it is a dream come true”, the truth is that just a month ago she was waiting for it to be renewed for a third season.
Not only that, the last episode of the second season It was never written to be the series finale. This is how he explained it to hollywood reporter. “I know there are always more stories to tell, with these characters, and I hope I get a chance to tell them,” she said.
Unfortunately it won’t happen. Even so, the two seasons of Sex/Life will continue to be available on Netflix.
