There are people who are so kind that they are supportive and help others in what they can, regardless of whether they know them or that they are not going to receive anything in return, since they do it for pleasure and with all the love of their hearts.
Although not all people receive the same kindness that they offer, this is not always the case. For example, we have the case of a woman who was about to be evicted after 20 years of renting a house in a neighborhood in which she helped in the soup kitchen, feeding the homeless, but her neighbors, seeing the situation, they got together and bought the house where he lived so that he wouldn’t be homeless.
The protagonist of this story is Linda Taylor, a 70-year-old woman from the town of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, who after two decades of living in a rental house, one day the owner gave her the bad news that he had to evict it because he had plans to sell it.
When the neighbors heard the news, they could not ignore the situation, since everyone knows the woman as the “soup lady”, since she is in charge of caring for homeless people, providing them with food in the neighborhood soup kitchen, so it was illogical for someone who had cared for so many homeless people to stay on the street.
That is how Linda’s neighbors decided not to sit idly by and do something about it, so around 430 of them collected signatures to express their wish that Mrs. Taylor would stay in the house. But that was not all, since they created a website to raise funds with the aim of buying the woman’s house.
Given the good intentions of the neighbors for giving Linda the house, the owner of the property gave them five more months to collect the money. So with what was collected on the Internet page, plus the small contributions that they managed to collect among themselves, in the end they collected 250 thousand dollars, the amount necessary to buy the house and put it in the name of the much-loved “soup lady.”
To give him the property, the neighbors organized a party to celebrate that after 20 years of renting it, the house was finally completely his. After years of selfless service, caring for and providing food for those who had nothing, Linda received a precious reward.
This should happen more often. We must reach out, talk to each other and support each other when we need it.
