Fury, the mysterious character who sometimes serves as the head of the all-powerful Avengers, first appeared on screen in Iron Man: The Iron Man (2008), the film that launched the franchise with which Marvel dominated Hollywood.
But the new series “is in first place when it comes to the things I’ve done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Jackson said Wednesday at a news conference in Los Angeles.
“It’s a story about people doing people things, without all those super[héroes] who come to save you,” he added.
The series follows American spy Fury as he battles shape-shifting reptilian humanoids.known as Skrulls (introduced in previous Marvel movies), and who live among humans, determined to foment war between Moscow and Washington.
Fury must also take on British spy Sonya Falsworth, played by Colman, who seems to be amused by her character’s loose morality, which includes at least one shocking torture scene.
“Sonya works for MI6. She likes to wear red, she’s funny and sometimes she can’t be very nice,” joked Colman, who preferred to keep plot details under wraps.
The participations of Colman, who won an Oscar in 2018 with The favouriteand Jackson, who last year received an Academy Award for his career, are significant for Marvel.
Clarke, of Game of Thronesjoins the cast as a troubled Skrull rebel, in addition to the return of regular stars like Don Cheadle, Martin Freeman, and Ben Mendelsohn.
