Perhaps, with which it has fallen in recent weeks, ‘The Witcher’ is one of the most convulsive television productions of the moment. The replacement of Henry Cavill by Liam Hemsworth to give life to Geralt de Rivia after the British announced his return to DC was only the tip of an iceberg that has made many doubt about the future of the series from Netflix.
Covering the chaos with promises
To the aforementioned problem we must add the controversy related to the discrepancies in the scriptwriters room. At the end of October, Beau DeMayo, a former writer of ‘The Witcher’ harshly criticized his former teammates, pointing out his rejection of both books and video games and constant mockery of the original material by Andrzej Sapkowski.
This attack did not take long to obtain a response from active scribes, highlighting that of a Matthew D’Ambrosio who called DeMayo an “asshole” and his words “a bunch of lies.” Well, after this dialectical fight, Lauren Schmidt Hissrichepic fantasy showrunner, has promised that the third season will focus more on the books originals. Chance? I do not think so.
In the comments of an Instagram post promoting the spinoff ‘The Witcher: The Origin of Blood’, Hissrich has secured a greater fidelity to the work of Sapkowski:
“What I want to say is: I’ve listened to the fans. And season three really showcases that return to the books, following the incredible journeys of Sapkowski’s characters with our leads. I’m so excited for people to see it and She feels heard. We also answer a lot of questions from the first two seasons. Cahir’s journey, the introduction of the Scoia’tael and how our family comes together again. I also think the third season will calm down the speculation about what’s going on. If only I could get there sooner!”
With these revealing promises on the table, all that remains is to wait for the premiere of the third season of ‘The Witcher’, which will arrive throughout the summer of next 2023to discover if they are fulfilled and, what is more important, what will be the future of the show. If I had to bet, with Cavill out of the equation, I would do it on cancellation.
