the catalog of Netflix It has its own productions and other titles that it incorporates and eliminates from time to time. Today I am here to talk to you about a film that is going to disappear from there this coming April 14 and that is not available on any other platform. In fact, for years it was very difficult to see her in Spain, where it was not even released on blu-ray. I mean ‘3 days’.
quite a special movie
‘3 days’ is the debut of F. Javier Gutierrez, a Spanish filmmaker who has seen how many of his projects fell by the wayside. In fact, since the release of the film that he is now dealing with in 2008, he has released only one other film, the unfortunate ‘rings’. Too bad, because here he showed that he was called to bring great joy to movie lovers.
On paper, ‘3 days’ is a film of science fiction about the end of the world, since there are only a few days left for a meteorite to destroy humanity and there is no possible escape. In this context, Gutiérrez builds a gripping thriller in every way, from that solar storm that wears away the little hope that remains before the arrival of the inevitable to a much more earthly threat that serves to give the film a different energy.
That makes ‘3 days’ an especially unique film., especially considering that it was made in Spain, where science fiction is not usually used too much -although there are some titles that are very worthwhile-. Winner of the 2008 Málaga Festival, then it did not even manage to bring 40,000 spectators to the cinemas, contenting itself with a pyrrhic collection of 214,000 euros.
For my part, I am clear that ‘3 days’ is not a perfect film, since the part that focuses on the most human threat ends up presenting certain credibility problems, but it is not something that takes you out of what is happening onscreen. And then there is so much to celebrate, from the great work of setting to the good work of its cast -very well led by Victor Clavijo– and without forgetting the extremely successful depressed atmosphere that Gutiérrez creates, that I prefer to keep all the good stuff.
