The return of charlie cox to the MCU is something that fans have been demanding and asking on their knees for years, and after so many years we are finally living it. After the cancellation of ‘Daredevil’ on Netflix, it didn’t seem like there was much hope for us to see Daredevil again. Matt Murdock.
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ officially confirmed that we had Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock, if only as a lawyer. Already in ‘She-Hulk: Lawyer Hulka’ we have been able to see him in a big way and also debuting in a new suit, but it seems that some fans did not like the sitcom format too much for Daredevil.
Superheroes deserve a break too
‘She-Hulk’ has a slightly different format than other MCU series: a comedy of lawyers where its protagonist breaks the fourth wall. Episode 8 has finally brought us Matt Murdock back, and even though he’s a perfect fit for the Jennifer Walters by Tatiana Maslany has already received its share of criticism because the Daredevil of ‘She-Hulk’ has a slightly lighter tone than in his own series.
So Jessica Gaothe main screenwriter of ‘She-Hulk: Lawyer She-Hulk‘ has commented on how they have approached the character of Matt Murdock, and also that of Wong, or Abomination, or any other MCU character that appears in their series.
“This is our version, and it’s something that’s true for all the characters. As with all the characters that we’ve used that exist in the MCU, they’re a little bit different on our show because you always see them in these dramatic roles, in these situations with very high stakes, everything very big and with a lot of pressure,” Gao said. “But our series is a day-to-day recap, so they can take a break.”
“And of course, after our series they come back and save the world, and save the universe, with very serious and very intense stories,” the writer continued. “But on our show, they can take a break when the universe isn’t in jeopardy. Like, how’s it going? It’s a chance to explore that part of their characters, because they can’t all be saving the world every second of their lives”.
Because yes, we will have time to see a completely serious Matt Murdock, although it is important to remember that Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ also had its moments for comedy and for breathing. Coming soon to Disney+ is Daredevil: Born Again, where things are going to get intense again with the reunion between Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.
His return to the MCU has been brewing for a long time, but when it finally happened even the charlie cox he thought it was a joke.
“I thought it was a joke or an innocence,” Cox said of his return “I got a message from Kevin Feige’s assistant saying if I could call them and I thought it would be for a benefit event for Covid, and that everyone would go But they asked me if I wanted to be in ‘Spider-Man,’ it was crazy.”
