Although there are times when Superman can reach a greater speed compared to Flash, without being a carrier of the Speed Force
Superman is one of the most complete heroes in the DC Universe, not only because of his invulnerability, but also because of the speed he can achieve, whether in competition against the Flash or to travel extraordinarily long distances.
When looking to measure the speed that the Man of Steel can reach, it is about measuring in comparison to the speed of Flash, who has the Speed Force.
Superman #199 was the first time that the Last Son of Krypton was measured against the Scarlet Sprinter, in a race where both competitors had to circle the planet Earth three times, which ended in a tie, after both heroes joined forces to sabotage the mafia plans to fix the race.

In Flash: Rebirth #3 (Not to be confused with the 2016 rebooted Flash series) Barry Allen sacrificed himself to save other speedsters, despite Superman’s best efforts to catch up with him, but Kal-El couldn’t reach Barry Allen. .
Superman was able to beat the Flash in Superman: High in the Sky, when the Man of Tomorrow and the Scarlet Speedster faced off in a new round-the-world race. Superman’s reasons for winning was the bet made by Lex Luthor, who promised to donate a billion dollars to an orphanage if Superman won.
How is Superman’s speed in “regular” conditions?
But it’s not just Superman’s speed that has been compared to the Flash’s. As we mentioned at the beginning, an important parameter in determining the speed of the Man of Steel is the time it takes him to travel long distances.
In Superman # 309 (March, 1977) Kal-El responds to his cousin Kara’s call for help on the planet Xonn, which is 11 light years away from Earth (99 billion kilometers). Superman moved faster than the speed of light to get there in a matter of minutes.
But the speed that Superman can reach is 6 trillion kilometers in a matter of seconds, as revealed in Red Hood and the Outlaws #14 (January 2013), when Jason Todd’s team teleported from Pluto to Earth. Earth, the same distance that Superman traveled, who was already waiting for the youth team on a beach.
Although Superman is aware that his speed is impressive, the consequences of using it can be serious for the population, so he only uses it in cases that deserve priority, as we saw in Doomsday Clock, when Clark Kent flew from Metropolis to Kahndaq, when an international crisis, apparently caused by Firestorm, breaks out.
