The tape received more criticism than positive comments, a fact for which part of the cast and himself joel Schumacher They have apologized to fans.
It is not a secret that Batman and Robin is considered one of the least acclaimed Dark Knight movies by fans, but despite this, this proposal has some successes.
Two decades after its release, we review what worked in the film, to finish off with some of the most obvious failures,
THE BEST
Alice Silverstone
Before Batman and Robinthe presence of Alicia Silverstone guaranteed a good box office. It will not be denied that more than one ended up falling in love with her when they saw her in the videos of Aerosmithor as the clueless cher Horowitz in clueless
Uma Thurman
And if we talk about sex symbols of the time, what do they tell us about um thurman? After pulp fictionalThe beauty um made his way into Hollywood, so his place in Batman&Robin he was more than obliged to embody the femme lackale poison ivy.
the soundtrack
If there is one thing that tapes of Batman of the nineties is to have artists of international stature to integrate their soundtrack. In Batman forever we could hear U2, so batman and robin could not be left behind and left us a great interpretation of The Smashing Pumpkins, among other. (In the Latin American version Café Tacvba appears)
The logo of the movie
Another element that moved us on the eve of the premiere is the logo that was designed for this film. Now we could see the classic design of the bat, accompanied by a stylized robin that accompanied us on t-shirts, records, mugs and other items.
The Elliott Goldenthal Soundtrack
Danny Elfmann He left the bar high in the first two Batman films, so the new theme had to be epic, and for that the experienced Elliott Goldenthalwho had already made soundtracks for action hits like alien 3 and Demolition Man.
WORST
The suits
Bat Nipples? Oh really? Joel Schumacher at his time justified the design by mentioning that he sought to emulate Olympic heroes.
Pretty depressing performances
Having a great cast does not guarantee that the actors give their best. The performances of Batman and Robin make the 1966 series seem like Citizen Kane.
Too many subplots
What were the writers looking for by putting too many plots into the story? We have the case of Batman chasing Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy trying to take revenge on humanity, Robin looking to get out of Batman’s shadow, Barbara looking to get Alfred out of work, Alfred suffering from an apparently terminal illness. Why the violence? against the fans?
Bane
Joel Schumacher achieved what not even the most prestigious neurosurgeon could have done. He lobotomized Bane to reduce him from one of the most Machiavellian villains in the DC Universe to a mere zombie on steroids.
the bat credit card
From being a vigilante hidden in the shadows to deliver justice, Batman was reduced to a kind of socialite available for charity events, verging on the ridiculous by having the famous Batcard credit.
the sum of everything
Joel Schumacher delivered us a cocktail of all of the above, mixed with violence, and as a result he delivered one of the least memorable movies of all time.
But there is no harm that does not come for good, since with this bomb we got a better version of Batman, courtesy of Christopher Nolan.
