We continue with this week’s announcements for the 2022 Upfronts, where FOX It has already presented some of the novelties for 2022-23, although the complete program for next fall is still somewhat up in the air.
The chain hasn’t wanted to get wet either yet to announce the renewal of some of its series, but it has taken advantage of the event to confirm its lineup of novelties, which includes a country music soap opera starring Susan Sarandon and an anthology centered on different trials. Not everything is going to be dramatic, because FOX has also presented its two new animated series, including Dan Harmon’s new project.
‘Accused’
‘Accused’ It will be a drama based on the crime anthology of the same name from the BBC, with each episode focusing on a different case. The episodes begin directly at the trial, without the accused knowing how they got there or what crime they are being tried for.
Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa, David Shore, Jacob Cohen-Holmes, Glenn Geller, Erin Gunn, Jimmy McGovern, Roxy Spencer, and Sita Williams will serve as executive producers of the series, which is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment.
‘Monarch’
A musical drama centered around America’s leading country music family. Dotti Cantrell Roman (susan sarandon) and her husband Albie (Trace Adkins) have raised a dynasty of artists, but the foundation of their success revolves around a lie and their legacy as kings of country is in jeopardy.
Melissa London Hilfers is the creator, screenwriter and executive producer of ‘Monarch’ along with jon feldman (“Designated Successor”), who serves as showrunner and executive producer.
‘Alert’
‘Alert’ is a police drama that follows the missing persons unit of the Los Angeles police. When the officer’s son Nikki Parker disappears, she joins the unit to help others find their loved ones while continuing to search for her son. Years later, her ex-husband devon zoellner appears with a photograph that proves that his son may still be alive.
This is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment with John Eisendrath (‘The Blacklist’) as showrunner and Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner as executive producers.
‘Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars’
A new reality show presented by Gordon Ramsey, which on this occasion is looking for great and innovative entrepreneurs in the field of food and drink. The contest champion will earn an investment from Ramsey himself, though along the way the participants will have to prove their dedication, creativity, passion and talent.
‘Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars’ is produced by Studio Ramsey Global and Fox Alternative Entertainment, with Ramsey executive producing the show alongside Lisa Edwards and Danny Schrader, who will also serve as showrunner.
‘grimsburg’
This animated comedy centers on Detective Martin Flute, who tries to redeem himself in his ex-wife’s eyes by spending more time with their son, with whom he has never bothered to spend much time. For now there is no more information about the animation studio or the cast, in addition to Jon Ham lending his voice to the protagonist.
Hamm will also serve as executive producer on the animated series alongside Catlan McClelland, Matthew Schlissel, Chadd Gindin, Hend Baghdady, Gail Berman, and Connie Tavel.
‘krapopolis’
Other comedy-tinged animation series, this time set in ancient Greece and with a good dose of mythology. ‘Krapopolis‘ revolves around a dysfunctional family of humans, gods, and monsters who rule one of the world’s greatest cities while trying not to kill each other.
Dan Harmon and Jordan Youngg are the executive producers of the series, which has in its cast of voices with Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy, Duncan Trussell and Hannah Waddingham.
Renovations in the air?
The renewal announcement for several FOX series has been around for several weeks. At first it seemed that the chain was going to wait for the event to confirm everything, but some deals are costing more than expected.
The renewal of ‘The Resident’ and ‘9-1-1‘ is still being negotiated, although it is believed that ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ would already be finalizing details. The comedies ‘Call Me Kat’ Y ‘Welcome to Flatch’ They would also have closed the negotiations and new seasons would have already been approved, but no official announcement has been made in this regard either.
Part of the problem during the negotiations comes from the division between Fox and 20th Television, which are no longer part of the same studio after the acquisition of Disney, but it is very possible that in the next few days we will have more updates.
