It is a younger sister that is not so much: 33 meters high and 32 tons in weight for this building created in the likeness of the famous Parisian tower and baptized as Eiffel.
Its installation on Saturday near the original was announced on Twitter by the Paris City Hall, with the message: “Don’t worry, you’re seeing fine.”
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the two towers on April 1, April Fool’s Day in many countries, including France.
The initiative was liked by some tourists and walkers, delighted to have “two Eiffel towers for the price of one”, as retiree Dominique Dimitroff pointed out.
The tower, inaugurated 134 years ago, was also the subject of a joke on the same social network on Saturday: “The highest slide in the world will be installed on my summit starting July 1!”, announced its official account, along with to a video montage that ended up revealing the joke.
The copy of the Eiffel Tower will remain on display alongside the original model until April 10, according to the newspaper Le Parisien.
