Although last year we had a special chapter as an appetizer, it is very possible that it didn’t know much, especially since the second season of ‘Dr Stone’ It was shorter than the previous one and the third one has been hard to come by.
After quite a bit of hype and closing a somewhat dramatic stage, the anime enters a very promising and hopeful new arc to take us to a new world… but first let’s rewind a bit, right?
Yeah, Science!!!
‘dr. Stone’ it’s a science fiction anime set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where over three thousand years ago all of humanity was turned to stone. One day, a boy named Taiju He awakens from his petrification and finds the campus: civilization has disappeared and the world he knew is a thing of the distant past.
luckily your friend senku He was always a genius with science and has been awake for months. And of course, he already has a plan in place to awaken the rest of the humans and recover civilization through scientific advances. Things are going smoothly now that they’re together, but when they wake up a young man named tsukasahe is of the opinion that the world is better now and begins a confrontation between the kingdom of science and that of brute force.
Although ‘Dr. Stone’ could easily fall into many clichés, it is an anime that feels very novel and also inventive. Because although it has its moments of action and confrontations, many are also resolved with logic and ingenuity and directly with Senku’s scientific tricks.
Every new invention almost becomes a small gymkhana in which we are made to participate, explaining the steps to get new ingredients in this new Stone Age. And of course, you can’t help but get excited and a little freaked out when you see the scientists in the group make historic strides to bring back glass, electricity, or even Coca Cola.

If science has never interested you, it doesn’t matter, because ‘Dr. Stone’ is terribly addictive and also accessible. It is not an anime that is haughty or treats its viewers as fools, but it puts itself at the level of anyone to invite you to participate in the experiments that you see on the screen.
And one of the hooks for which this also works is because of Senku himself, because although at first it seems that he is going to be an unbearable manual Sheldon, he soon proves to be someone who values all his teammates and their abilities tremendously. Maybe there comes a point where the anime cast gets a bit extensive and it’s hard to follow them allbut the series manages to balance quite well to give everyone time to shine.
heading to the new world
TMS Entertainment has been in charge of the anime since the first season, and the truth is that they have also been very ingenious with the animation. Because ‘Dr. Stone’ does not have a stunning animationbut thanks to the explanatory graphics and how he exploits his moments of humor with a more chibi and silly style, it doesn’t feel like we’re watching a succession of slides.

And yet, the quality of the animation has been raising the bar more and more with each season, and already with the special ‘Ryusui’ they went one step further with good CGI integration and some pretty spectacular scenes to lay the foundation for the next season.. And be careful, although it is a television special, it is convenient to see this chapter because it introduces us to the character of Ryusui and it is a bridge between seasons… so if we do not see it, we miss an important part of the story.
Because we finally arrived at the third season of the anime, ‘Dr. Stone: New World’. Entering the spoilers if you are still catching up, it can finally be said that the battle between the kingdom of science and Tsukasa’s group has ended… but of course a new obstacle has come up in the road and the solution seems to be in the other part of the world.
So Senku and company must now build a ship, gather the crew and all the necessities, and set out on a voyage. The first episode of the season directly continues the ‘Ryusui’ special and since we don’t lose a moment, they also show us how scientific advances benefit the rest of humanity.

It is a very simple chapter, halfway between reminding us who is who and seeing the characters in their element with a lot of humor and the occasional reference to video games that were already missed. Cause the truth is good shots of humor are also one of the strengths of anime and they have known how to put them naturally more and more often, and this first chapter does not become a ball at all.
With this we are already preparing the next gymkhana of secondary missions before we can leave. But of course I am very curious to see what will happen next (and although it sounds very nerd, to learn everything that ‘Dr. Stone’ wants to teach me). For now, we have the entire season ahead of us, and we can follow it every week through Crunchyroll.
And in case we fear that the anime will end soon… we’d better slow down a bit. the sleeve of Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi it barely finished a year ago and there are still several volumes to adapt, so it is very possible that we have a fourth season ahead of us.
