Sandman and Watchmen gave us two of the most powerful beings in the entire DC Universe, such as Morpheus and Dr. Manhattan, who could define who has more power
Let’s forget for a moment about beings like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, since the DC Universe has two of the most powerful beings ever created, on the one hand Morpheus, the King of Dreams and protagonist of Sandman, and in the other corner is Jon Osterman better known as Dr Manhattan, whom we met in Watchmen.

Both characters have been characterized by having immeasurable power over elements that are not controllable, such as space, time or ideas. While Neil Gaiman was inspired by an abstract idea to make it a reality, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons were inspired by Captain Atom to give him more powers than any other superhero in history.
Curious fact: Neil Gaiman contributed some of the lines at the end of each issue of Watchmen, so in a way Gaiman has been involved in both Watchmen and Sandman.
But there is a question that has been generated in the last three decades: Who is more powerful, Morpheus, the King of Dreams, or Dr. Manhattan? We share some points to consider between both characters
Morpheus is an eternal
Sueño is the third of the seven children who had time and space, which govern a concept of the life of all living beings (Destiny, Death, Dream, Desire, Despair, Destruction and Delirium)
These beings are special to all the gods, especially the role that Morpheus plays on the unconscious minds of the beings who worship these gods, who avoid the loss of beliefs and identity with dreams.
Dr. Manhattan can see the past and the future
The accident that allowed Jon Osterman to become Dr. Manhattan not only made him as powerful a being as other heroes like Superman, but also made him experience time differently from how humans perceive it.
Dr. Manhattan can see the past and the future at the same time, so he can have premonitions of what happens later, something that Morpheus cannot do.
Morpheus knows all the stories written and those that will be written
Being the King of Dreams, Morpheus has in his kingdom, Dreaming, an enormous library that contains the works that man has written, and not only in literature, but also in music and art, since these are performed from dreams.
Morpheus can turn any idea, no matter how abstract or absurd it may seem, into a reality, something that Manhattan cannot do since he sticks to reality.
Dr. Manhattan is a man of science
The control over molecules and atoms that Dr. Manhattan has is not a product of his accident. Before becoming the most powerful of the Crimebusters, Jon Osterman was a man of science, specializing in physics.
His vast knowledge of the scientific facts surrounding things give Manhattan an advantage over Morpheus.
Morpheus can materialize dreams
The King of Dreams can turn anything men dream of into reality, an ability no other DC Comics hero or villain can pull off.
Is it possible that in the physical world there are monsters, machines or situations that could be classified as illogical? If Morpheus wants those ideas, they can become a tangible reality, so “Be careful what you wish for.”
Dr. Manhattan can change the course of history
Thanks to his ability to see the past and the future, Jon Osterman is able to be present in events that have happened and those that are destined to take place.
A small example of his power was the way in which with just a small movement he changed the reality of the DC Universe, leading to events such as the creation of The New 52.
Morpheus is part of existence
Being the King of Dreams and who controls an aspect of life, like his brothers, they make Morpheus a fundamental part of the existence of men, who have had dreams since the beginning of time.
Morpheus has to watch over the dreams of men and ensure that the cruelest nightmares do not come out of Dreaming, something that happened to the Corinthian after Morpheus’ captivity for 80 years (in the series it was for more than 100 years)
Dr. Manhattan can live as long as he wants
Thanks to his great power, it is difficult for someone to kill Dr. Manhattan, something that even Ozymandias did not achieve with the most advanced tachyon technology.
Dr Manhattan decides when to stop living, something that Morpheus fails to do since in the final arc of The Sandman the King of Dreams dies, leaving Daniel Hall as heir to his kingdom.
