We have already seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and we are going to tell you what we thought. Obviously no spoilers
The premise was clear before entering the theater. One of the biggest cinematic events in the world of superheroes we had this year with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Months and months of alleged leaks have been creating a product in our heads, which, sadly, is not at all what I expected.
I have to say first of all that it is not a bad movie. Obviously coming from what we came from (Morbius) any Marvel project was going to be better. We have been able to observe it with Moon Knight, which has dazzled all UCM fans. Even so, after the high expectations we had with this film, there have been things that have been much better than the others.
Immersion in the multiverse has been something that has been announced for a long time. The Loki series on Disney Plus was the first to tell us about this. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness we can see how they exploit this resource by investigating to the most recondite point of the “known”. The content and ramifications that the MCU can have from now on are practically endless and this has its pros and cons. Because something that is almost infinite can open up a very wide field of experience for you, instead, it is also its own sin. That there is no clear line of where it is going to go is something that I miss.
The plot is the main mistake of the movie
Where do you want to go and where do you come from? The second question we practically all know. Loki, Wandavision, Spiderman have been the bases of this plot that has been spinning finely until reaching this network of characters and unknown worlds. Now the problem that I have found with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is that when you finish it you don’t really know where Marvel is going to turn.
This uncertainty with the future of Marvel is something that not everyone values the same. I insist, the movie is not bad. For a general audience it is a good movie and has everything we would expect from something from Marvel. For this reason, many times while you are watching the movie, what is on your mind is, and what is this for?
This failure for my taste is the only thing that can muddy the film. They promised fear and they haven’t quite succeeded either. There comes a time in the film that you have that tension of the typical horror masterpieces and apart from the statutory scares that they have to do there is no great terror either.
As they said before it was released, it is not a film for all audiences, it is not a product with which to take your 10-year-old children who like Spiderman a lot because you still cannot sleep in three days. There are little things, I insist.
The characters and their interpreters are the best
Benedict Cumberbatch has managed to be the perfect Doctor Strange. The entire interpretation of him in the film conveys at all times what is expected of him. As is the case with Elizabeth Olsen, who she repeats in the role of Wanda Maximoff and is as we left her in Wandavision. Obviously these characters have a great development throughout the film, but I’m not going to tell you anything so that you can admire it yourself.
The movie itself is very good. The worst thing that has happened to her is what Kevin Feige complained about, that there have been too many advances on her. This has made fans have illusions and theories that are too crazy and Marvel has decided to wait to use those tricks.
Tomorrow, May 6, it will be released in all theaters around the world. When you see it, tell us in comments what you think.
