26 years have passed since the death of María Lucila Beltrán Ruiz, known as Lola Beltrán, singer from Rosario, Sinaloa, and who was one of the women who, in addition to being successful, opened the doors to the music industry for many other performers who burst onto the stage several years later.
Trying to gain a space in a genre where the male voice predominated, such as the ranchero, was not an easy task for a woman from the province. However, her personality and the peculiar tone of her voice allowed Lola to earn a place among the best ranchero singers of her time, such as José Alfredo Jiménez, Javier Solís, Jorge Negrete and even Pedro Infante, to name just a few. .
Maybe that’s where it derives the success of a woman who came to record nearly 200 songs, work in just under 40 movies and serve as hosts of some television programs.
During his life, in addition to fame, The singer from Sonora won an immense fortune that at the end of her life was fought over by Maria Elena Leal, her blood daughter, and José Quintín, her adopted son.
To get an idea of the heritage that Lola Beltrán once had, recently José Quintín himself opened the doors of a residence that he acquired as part of his inheritance, which is located in Mexico City, where the interpreter practically lived until before his death, on March 24, 1996.
Located in the southern area of the country’s capital, the property was built in the 90s and has a very peculiar architectural style, as it is more like a mountain residence where to build it, volcanic stone and pink quarry were alternated and even inside it is covered with wood.
Inside the house there is also a large fireplace, since the area was previously part of a forest and during the afternoons the temperature tends to drop.
Another important aspect of The property is that it could well become a museum, due to the large number of objects, awards and photographs that speak of the artistic legacy of a true celebrity from a golden age for Mexican music.
Finally, the tour allowed by the putative son of Lola Beltrán made it possible to discover what became the singer’s bedroom, a very large area full of windows through which the sun’s rays woke her up daily.
After a long litigation, this residence ended up in the hands of the singer’s son, who assures that he will use it to carry out some projects in memory of his mother.
