‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse’ is one of those movies that perhaps deserves to be seen more than once in order to get the most out of it, especially if we don’t want to miss any detail. All in second movie with miles morales like Spider-Man it has been measured to the millimeter, and there are already some little seeds that began to be planted five years ago with the first film in the saga without us noticing.
Warning, this article contains spoilers about the end of ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse!
The Prowler was always there
For much of the movie, Miles has to deal with the feeling that his friends have left him out and that he isn’t accepted with the rest of the Spider-People. But all the disgust that Miguel O’Hara seems to have for him is due to the fact that Miles is actually an anomaly and should never have been Spider-Man. in his universe.
During the events of ‘Spider-Man: A New Universe’, a radioactive spider is teleported from the Earth-42 to Earth-1610 of thousands. This spider bit Miles and gave him powers, but this event also led to the death of Peter Parker. And since this spider never actually bit anyone on Earth-42, that universe ran out of spider-man.
So far so good, but when Miles uses the Go-Home Machine to return home and save his father, the machine analyzes his DNA and returns him… to Earth-42 from which the spider that bit him came. So Miles returns to the wrong universe and finds out that there also exists a Miles Moralesand who has also become the Marauder.
During the film we already have clues that this Miles exists, and in fact he can be seen in the scene where the spider from Earth-42 is about to bite him before being transported to another universe… But many fans they have been realizing more details and the most curious thing is that our Miles was always going to become the marauder.
When Miles meets Peter Parker in the first movie, their “Spidey-sense” activates and they both connect, but Miles first is green and purple, the colors of the Marauder. Later the background colors change to the red and blue of Spider-Man, but the first film had already warned us of what awaited Miles in this universe.
The same goes for the scene at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse’, because when the Miles from Earth-42 removes his mask, he is illuminated with red and blue, making reference to that his destiny was to become Spider-Man. But since the spider switched universes, the fates of both Miles were also switched.
We don’t know how much was planned for the sequel back then, but the truth is that this game of colors shows a lot of attention to detail… Or at least that they have managed to spin very, very well.
