If this weekend you have decided to go to the cinema (with a big bowl of popcorn, of course), it is possible that “Little Pig” will become the winning choice. Directed by Charlotte Pereda and starring Laura GalanCarmen Machi or Pilar Castro, this film brings together images that may remind us of the iconic Leticia Dolera dressed as a bride in ‘[REC] 3’ or Verónica’s brother singing the catchphrase of “Centella”.
It is a slasher film that deals with bullying and revenge, and that will leave no one indifferent. In addition, his script delves fully into the morality of the characters.
Villanueva de la Vera, the new place to be
According to Espinof experts, “the film would not be so damn good if it weren’t for its magnificent setting” and that is where we moved. Betting on showing rural oppression, the film was shot in Villanueva de la Vera, a municipality in the province of Cáceres (Extremadura), which hides large natural landscapes with waterfalls that have been declared a Historic-Artistic Site since 1982.
Laura Galán, the eternal teenager
Sara is the protagonist of the film, a role played by the (almost) unknown actress Laura Galán. It is about the life of a teenager who lives with constant bullying because of her weight and her terror because of the teasing she receives from her. Far from being an eternal teenager, the actress who plays her is 36 years old and has just become a new mother a few months ago.
The film is based on a short film presented in 2018
Although everyone is talking about this film (and it is not for less) and today it is released in theaters in our country, we have to go back to 2018 when Carlota Pereda -the director of the film- presented “Cerdita” in a short film version. Only 14 minutes long -and opting for the same protagonist-, it won the Goya award for best fiction short film and the Forqué award for best short film.
