The movie “The whale” has marked a resurgence in the career of brendan fraser, and during the interviews that have been done with him, he has taken the opportunity to remember some of the films that made him famous. this time spoke about an incident that occurred during the filming of the Disney film “George of the jungle”, which starred in 1997.
During a series of questions and answers in the Mill Valley Film Festival Fraser commented that a sequence in that movie literally stopped traffic: “When we were doing “george of the jungle” George goes to rescue a parachutist stranded on the Golden Gate Bridge – he actually meant the Bay Bridge. That means Disney put a mannequin hanging from a parachute. This brought traffic to a halt on both sides of the bridge.”
The 53-year-old actor continued his story: “My trailer was on the other side in a parking lot. I only remember seeing the bridge. There was a fictional skydiver hanging from it. He had the television on and Oprah (Winfrey) was interrupted because there was a special news report with helicopters saying there was a parachute hanging off the bridge. And I, well, wait a minute, I’m looking at the helicopters and the TV, somebody didn’t get a permit, somebody’s going to have a problem with the mayor’s office.”
Finally, and with the humor that characterizes it, Brendan wryly added, “So, with that being said, it’s my fault. It will not happen again”. Meanwhile, he continues to promote “The whale”a film for which critics mention him as a sure contender for next year’s Academy Award.
