Various reports state that Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen has threatened “several times over a period of years” to divorce her husband, Tom Brady, due to his demanding career in the NFL. However, it looks like she’s serious this time around after they both hired high-profile divorce attorneys.
The news comes after the New York Post revealed that the couple was building a mansion in Miami, Florida to make it their permanent home, though construction was halted due to Hurricane Ian.
The property is located in Miami’s Indian Creek Country Club community and the total cost of the home was speculated to be around $30 million, as the couple paid $17 million for the land and an additional $10.12 million in construction costs.
The area is known as the “Billionaire’s Bunker” due to the large number of celebrities in the surrounding area, including Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Brady and Bündchen are rumored to be evaluating how they will divide their assets, including their property portfolio.
The mansion was customized for both of them and includes an organic garden, pickleball court, yoga deck, prep kitchen, main kitchen, and outdoor kitchen. The 1.8-acre property encompasses three buildings: a main house, a security post and a gym.
Floor plans for the home obtained by the Post show it spans a whopping 17,000 square feet and includes five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, along with an elevator, movie theater and guest suite. But after TMZ reported that the relationship has been on the rocks for a while, it’s unclear who will take ownership or if it will be sold outright.
The supermodel took the initiative to retain an attorney, and the NFL star followed suit as he “figured out what to do,” according to one of his associates.
“I don’t think there will be any comebacks now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be,” an anonymous source told Page Six.
Bündchen was also recently seen in the parking lot of her gym, along with her children Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, without her wedding ring.
In addition to the Miami property, the couple also own a $3.6 million condo in New York City and another $5.7 million property in the exclusive Yellowstone club in Montana.
Brady’s net worth after starting his football career with the New England Patriots in 2001 skyrocketed to $250 million. While Bündchen’s net worth is similar after spending several years as a Victoria’s Secret model.
The supermodel previously admitted that she had to put her career on the sidelines during an interview with Elle magazine on September 13. Bündchen was eager to start her career again after Brady’s retirement, and she seems to be moving forward with her goals despite Brady’s decision to return to the field.
“I did my part, which is to be there for (Tom). I moved to Boston and focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up and to be there supporting him and his dreams. Seeing my children succeed and becoming the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing them succeed and feel fulfilled in their career, makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job of that. I have a huge list of things I have to do , what I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected to my purpose,” Bündchen told Elle magazine.
Bündchen previously admitted that he was concerned that Brady would backtrack on his retirement plans.
“This is a very violent sport, I have my kids and I wish he was more around. I’ve definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately I feel like everyone needs to make a decision that works for (them). He also needs to follow his joy,” Bündchen told Elle magazine.
