Funny, charismatic, she knows that she falls in love with her way of speaking, although she hardly breathes! Daniel Di Giacomo, whom we met on Univision, and who we see weekly on ‘El Gordo y la Flaca’, embarked on a new adventure, being the host of a reality show, ‘ Vestido de 15’, an original production of 360 POWWOW, which you can see on Discovery Familia.
In exclusive We talked to her about this experience, which she says woke her up from individualismmade her empathize with the stories of the young women, the families, and she confesses to us what: “I connected with gratitude”.
He also answers those who question why don’t we see it on air more time on Univision and reveals what he would love to do in his career besides “peace and ticket.
-Presenter of ‘Dress for 15’ in a series as fashion as it is real, how do you live this adventure?
Daniela DiGiacomo: I’m so excited, an opportunity that Discovery Familia gave me, has a lot to do with what my career has inadvertently been, which is talking about fashionabout clothes, because I’m not a big fan of fashion, I’m more of a fan of what works for you, what you like, what looks good on you and what makes you feel good… This, In addition, it is a tradition that is so beautiful, that is so rooted in us Latinosand what better way to also celebrate this month of Hispanic heritage, than launching a program of a tradition that is very much ours.
Also, with stories of girls living here in the United States, which I also think is an important thing to highlight… It is dedicated to the girls who would become this second generation who were born in their countries or migrated here, but who are growing up just the same with all this that is so ours.
-When this project comes to you, what is the first thing you thought or remembered?
Daniela DiGiacomo: I remembered how I did not celebrate my 15but well, I think mine is more a family issue, it has a lot to do with the traditions in your family, my grandparents were immigrants in Venezuela, so I think that the head was not at all in: “we are going to make a tasty rumbón”, it was “we are going to survive and that’s it”… At that time the thing was mutating in that you could choose a trip or you could choose the party or you could just choose the photo session, that I discovered thanks to this programthat there are many options and that women, because they are already 15 years old, you realize that you just want how to live that experienceto wear a dress, because in the end it is also an excuse to see yourself as a princess and feel like that.
You think that you are in that store: “Oh, that dress is nothing to see, how can you think of it”… And she put it on, and I can’t explain it to you like, “I need it even if it’s just to try it on and have a marathon with dress” … I thought about many things, I experienced many things, I think that today I don’t know if I wanted to have the party, but I would definitely drop by the store to try on all the dresses, and at least I’ll record a Reel for you.
-What did you discover about the reality format?
Daniela DiGiacomo: I am a lover of live television, but This format seemed delicious to me, first because it is also interacting and meeting other people, and in the end I think that with the speed with which we live today, one thinks that we become very individualistic. Sometimes we lose sight of reality, there are other realities, and that there are other stories, having lived this closely like you land again, and unintentionally you also connect with gratitude.
There are people who have had shortcomings, and have some stories, who have come to this country and have had to put a lot of effort into it in order to advance and progress and evolve. I’m not going to say that mine has been an easy slide either. I was very amused by the topic of the confessionals, when you sit alone to talk to the camera.
–Within what you can tell us, what struck you or what we should be very attentive to?
Daniela DiGiacomo: One of the stories that I loved the most, also because this little girl is pilisima, a little girl who did not know that she had a hearing deficiency, she does not listen perfectly, she does not hear the consonants, and she realized very big, and what she did is read lips, so when the issue of the pandemic came up, she realized that she did not understand people well. Her father, her style Serena Williams, who trained her alone, a Cuban father who began to assemble things in the yard, so that she could practice playing tennis… The girl wants to take on the world, so I saw many cases of this type, of people who are not willing to stop.
-As you said, the career has taken you to the world of fashion, do you like it, is it what you want?
Daniela DiGiacomo: I want everything, I want the whole world… When I was choosing which career to study, I only wanted a career that could help people, and in the end I ended up taking social communication because I wanted to become a war journalist… Life led me for entertainment, and today I have understood that entertainment is also too importantone needs to disconnect, life is too chaotic, we have many problems, so that’s also why I’ve been very attached to the subject of comedy… I want everything, I want to act, I also want to act in comedy, I want to start doing stand up.
Fashion came to me because when I moved here I wanted to study image consulting for myself.and because perhaps it could be something for me to learn, and do another job… Without wanting to, I was given the opportunity with Rodner (Figueroa) to do the ‘fashionometer’, within Univisión… I did sports that I worked for a time with a sports channel, entertainment has been the majority of my career, right now I’m like in a wave of doing a little more investigative work, I did the case of Johnny Deppand people have liked it because I tell it very colloquially… In the end I’m trying to make content and experiment with things that entertain me, that I like.
–When I shared on networks that I was going to interview you, they asked me to ask you, why aren’t you spending more time or aren’t you doing more things with Univision as before…
Daniela DiGiacomo: With Univision I have always done the fashion segment within ‘El Gordo y la Flaca’, there was a time when sometimes I was going 3 times a week. Things have happened these days that, obviously, fashion completely takes a backseat and that’s it. What I did before was the position of fashion on the red carpets, I had a time when I left Univision, I had several projects at that timeand right now I’m back… I stopped making the rugs, which is something that amuses me a bit, but I also know what happened motivated at the time because people didn’t like that I spoke in ‘El Gordo y la Flaca’ about who had not liked his clothes …
Every day I talk to Mariela (Cardona, VP executive producer of ‘El Gordo y la Flaca’), my boss, and I always tell her that I’m willing, that any casting, that they give me the opportunity to grow, now I am proposing a lot of things to do in VIX, always like I am trying to move. I like to work.
–Let’s throw it out into the universe, if you said, “The next thing I want to do is”…
Daniela DiGiacomo: I would very much like to do something that has to do with comedy, be it a series related to comedy, be it one of those reality shows that are watching funny videos. A show where I can simply react and have fun, because I think that in recent years I have discovered that, by skipping the wig, being fully me is when I connect the most with people., when I have the most fun, and when people also enjoy what I’m doing the most. What they have been telling you all your life when you are little, about your conquest of the world being you, that there is only one, I think that right now I have believed it more… I want to laugh, have a good time, and what I told you: peace and ticket.
