Today is the online preview of ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’, the anime by Studio Trigger that serves as a spin-off to ‘Cyberpunk 2077‘, but if you don’t feel like stopping by on Twitch we won’t have to wait much longer and starting tomorrow September 13th We can watch the entire series on Netflix.
For now everything that they have taught us about looks great, but if we needed more claims to see it, it has been confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito will lend his voice to who promises to be one of the coldest characters in ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’.
Another notch in the dubbing belt
Although it is impossible not to associate him with Gustavo Fring from ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’, or with his Moff Gideon of ‘The Mandalorian’, Esposito already has much more than first steps in terms of dubbing. He is the Lex Luthor of ‘Harley Quinn’, Akela in ‘The Jungle Book’ by Jon Favreau and Ra’s al Ghul in ‘Son of Batman’, but now he has to try his luck in the world of anime.
In ‘Cyberpunk Edgerunners’, Esposito will play Faraday in the English dub. Faraday is a character from the anime that will also appear in the board game ‘Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City’ and it basically deals with providing jobs to the mercenaries hanging around Night City.
According to Faraday’s descriptions, he has certain ties to Militech and is a very precise, ruthless and calculating character who doesn’t like it when things don’t go as planned… So Esposito doesn’t even care about the papers he which we are accustomed to.
How could it be otherwise in Night City, Faraday has his own body modification: a cyberware that gives him two extra eyes. It looks like Faraday will be a secondary character, although we still don’t know how pivotal to the anime’s plot, but if we see the series in English, having Giancarlo Esposito on board is always a very good bonus.
