Josh Homme, leader and vocalist of Queen of the Stone Age, revealed in an interview for Stir that last year he was diagnosed with lung cancer, a situation that marked a before and after for his career and personal life, because for a moment he believed that he had lost everything.
Homme immediately clarified that he had already undergone an operation to prevent the disease from spreading to other parts of his body. According to his testimony, the doctors have indicated that he is out of danger, but his fans They continue to show concern about it, since the musician has been caught smoking on multiple occasions.
Homme revealed that he was diagnosed with lung cancer after announcing the end of his marriage to Brody Dalle, vocalist and frontman for The Distillers, in 2019.
Cancer was the icing on the cake of that interesting period, you know? I am extremely grateful to have gotten through this and I look back on it as something that was really screwed up. I’m fine with that. There are many things I want to do. And there are a lot of people I want to do that with.
Coupled with his separation and medical diagnosis, Homme had to resume his working life and start recording a new album.
I think this was the first time I didn’t want to make an album, but I was dealing with too many things in my personal life. We record too many things. I think I’ve been doing it because when I’m in trouble, this is what I do. This is where I’m going to order everything.
There were times when I almost didn’t make it. It’s okay for me to reflect on that. It’s not right to stay there, I feel too sorry for myself. These have been the darkest four years of my life. But that’s okay too. In the heartaches, my mistakes, these deaths, and my own physical things that I’m dealing with, even though all of that happened and tore my old life to pieces, those pieces that I’ve been able to build into a ship that’s about to to set sail I will float to my new life of all those pieces.
Fortunately, the musician received the help of close friends and family, who did not abandon him during any of his medical appointments. Homme clarified that he underwent an operation to eradicate and prevent the disease from spreading in his body. He is currently stable and ready to promote the latest album with his band.
