Nathan Galante is barely 22 years old, and in his short career as a composer he has an impressive record of songs that have been hits on the lips of artists such as Grupo Firme, La Adictiva, Carín León and even Maluma himself.
“Ya supérame”, “Ya solo eres mi ex”, “Cada quién”, “Ojos cerrados” and “Modo incógnito” are some of the songs by this young man from Tijuana, Mexico, who have reached the top of the charts from Billboard, the specialized music magazine that reports the position of the songs according to their popularity.
And from what can be seen, Galante is unstoppable.
“I want to revolutionize the genre of Mexican music,” he said in a recent interview from Mazatlán, where he lives. “The Mexican regional is undervalued [porque] frankly it could be heard all over the world, but it is not heard because it is ‘regionalized’, and it is time for it to expand its horizons”.
Nathan believes that this can happen if this genre is complemented with melodies that can be heard on any continent, as he demonstrated with “Cada quién”, the song that Grupo Firme and Maluma perform together.
“That is the revolution of the Mexican regional,” he said. “Because Maluma is not singing urban; On the contrary, Maluma came to sing regionally.
What Nathan proposes is that the melodies and instrumentation stop being so regional so that the songs are heard the same in Colombia as in Puerto Rico “or on any continent.”
Another of the schemes that Nathan is breaking is that notion that the hits of female singers can only be interpreted by other women. This week he premieres “Una copa por cada reina Deluxe”, an album of thirteen songs in which he pays tribute to figures such as Rocío Dúrcal, Lupita D’Alessio, Thalía, Amanda Miguel and Yuridia.
“They are ‘covers’ that inspired nostalgia,” said this boy, who began his career selling corridos to customers who found him on social media. “It is because of the taste for those artists […] It’s a very mine album”.
The composer said that although they are performed by a man, the essence of what they did persists in these songs.
In a few weeks, Nathan will begin a tour that he hopes to bring to the United States. As soon as he receives his visa, he said he.
