For many years there have been rumors about the interest that Tom Cruise had to play the character “Iron man” in a movie, but from 2008 he was the actor Robert Downey Jr. who played the role in several successful films of Marvel. Now Cruise has made it clear that it is not among his plans to work on a project of those studies.
Being interviewed for the podcast Phase Zero Tom said that has never been close to starring in a movie about the superhero: “Not even that close. I love a lot Robert Downey Jr., and I can’t imagine anyone else doing that role and I think it’s perfect for him.”
However, statements that Cruise made to IGN in 2005 were also released, recounting that when there was an approach for him to interpret the character, no agreement was reached: “They came with me at a certain time and, when I do something, I want to do it well. If I commit to something, it has to be in a way that I know it’s going to be something special. And as it all lined up, it just didn’t feel like it was going to work. I need to be able to make decisions and make the movie the best it can be, and the plan just didn’t go that way.”
