Although Inditex is often the firm sued for how much it likes to be “inspired” by others for its designs, this time it is Zara that has been forced to take legal action against another brand. And it is that this firm passed off articles from Amancio Ortega’s signature as its own.
The news is that Zara has sued Thiliko, a fashion brand from Los Angeles whose flag is that its clothing is of quality, has been carefully designed and, moreover, in a sustainable way.
However, Inditex has cited it in court for copyright infringement; misleading advertising; unfair competition and deceive their followers by passing off the articles of the textile giant as their own.
As expressed in the lawsuit, filed in a federal court in New York on January 4, this Los Angeles company operated by replacing the original Zara labels with its own and exorbitantly increasing the sale price of items. In this way, a dress that costs $49.90 in the Spanish firm’s store is sold for $328 on the Thilikó website.
In fact, Thilikó uses on his website the same photo with the same model that is shown in the Zara online store. In fact, in the lawsuit, Inditex also points out that Thilikó has taken more than 32 photographs copyrighted to advertise these products of which its manufacture is attributed.
From Inditex they consider that this has caused them economic damage and irreparable reputational damage, for which they claim financial compensation from the firm and its owner, Queenie Williams.
