A few weeks before the grand finale of The Walking Dead, we remind you how the virus emerged that turned much of the world into zombies
One of the most popular phenomena in the world is weeks away from coming to an end when The Walking Dead broadcasts its final chapter, after 11 years since a virus turned into the walking dead.

This virus spread in the blink of an eye, and throughout 178 chapters, the fight for survival and the intrigues between the factions of the survivors have intensified, all thanks to the appearance of a virus.
But more than 10 years away, do you remember the origin of that virus that turned the world upside down?
Let’s go back to the first season, in that epic moment in which Rick Grimes wakes up in a hospital, in the preamble of a zombie apocalypse.
France, the epicenter of horror
Morgan Jones remembers that to survive any unliving attackers they must travel to Atlanta, to a refugee center where there would be military protection and food. Rick decides to go there in search of his son and his wife.
That brings us to the spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond we discover that the virus was created by scientists in a laboratory in France.
Going back to the first episodes, in the fifth episode of the first season, when arriving in Atlanta, at the Center for Disease Control, Dr. Edwin Jenner explains that 63 days have passed since the zombie disease spread globally.
This is how the zombie virus attacks
This man-made virus is aggressive to the organisms it attacks. First it invades the brain, which is paralyzed, the main organs are turned off and finally the infected person dies, but this “death” is temporary.
The infected comes back to life between three minutes and eight hours, restarting the body, but as a kind of shell, starting a walk. Lights like noise attract walkers.
“The bite kills, the fever burns, but after a while… you come back,” says Morgan. “They are dead, except for something in their brain. That’s why you have to shoot them in the head,” he adds.
