More and more people are concerned about climate change, animal welfare and food manufacturing processes. According to a study by the consulting firm Grand View Research, the organic cosmetics market will grow between 8% and 10% a year until reaching a value of more than 25,110 million dollars in 2025.
For us to understand, being organic, bio or eco is more restrictive than natural. This last name only refers to cosmetics that use natural ingredients. In order to be considered organic, the ingredients must have been produced in accordance with the criteria of organic farming, without fertilizers or phytosanitary products, explains Nuria Alonso, responsible for the BioVidaSana certification.
As an example of an ecological firm in Spain, we find Maminat, which began its career in 2017 after its founder, the journalist Natalia Olmo, suffered from cosmetic acne on her skin. A sustainable alternative which began by developing its own hygiene and care products and is becoming more and more successful.
The firm’s pillar is sustainability in all its formulas and packaging. And their products are certified organic, natural and vegan by Acene. They work with Mediterranean ingredients, sustainable packaging and are deeply concerned about caring for the environment.
“At Maminat we understand that beauty is closely related to health and the balance between body, emotion and mind. We believe that using products on our skin that are respectful of the environment and whose ingredients you know the origin of, helps you feel better and better in every way”, assures Olmo.
Her current makeup collection includes a medium coverage fluid foundation, available in four different shades that gives the face a natural and non-greasy finish. It has SPF 20 and among its many virtues is that of being vegan: it is not tested on animals and its star ingredients include rosemary (the most hot TikTok currently), geranium, lavender and sage, all organically grown and of Mediterranean origin.
Also has three talc-free powder blush shades that can be used as eye shadows.
Prices? 17.95 euros for blushes and 31.95 euros for makeup bases.
