One of the series that DC Comics is preparing for the HBO Max platform is Green Lantern, of which there is new news, derived from the cancellation of Batgirl
Following the cancellation of Batgirl by the Warner Bros. Discovery board, headed by David Zazlav, nervousness among fans became apparent as DC Comics has more projects on the horizon, including the Green Lantern series.

When the HBO Max platform was presented in October 2019, it was announced that one of its flagship series by DC Comics will be a new live-action program about Green Lantern, a production that has been postponed due to issues such as the pandemic due to Covid.
Some inaccurate reports indicated that the Green Lantern project could be canceled, but actor Jeremy Irvine, who will play Alan Scott in the series, assured Comicbook that the series is “more alive than ever”. Even media such as the Hollywood Reporter have anticipated that the series will premiere in 2024.
“It’s taken a long time to get to this point and it’s a very, very big company. It goes very well. All I can say is it’s going really well and there will be Green Lanterns in it, and it’s going to be on HBO Max.”, declared Seth Grahame-Smith
Green Lantern will feature the adventures of a multitude of members of the Green Lantern Corps, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott, Earth’s first Green Lantern. The series will also include Sinestro and Kilowog, as well as introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.
Geoff Johns will be the executive producer of Green Lantern, in addition to writing some chapters. The new DC Comics series will be co-produced by Mad Ghost Productions, a Geoff Johns company, in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television.
Cuts continue for DC Comics
However, not all is good news for DC Comics, because although Green Lantern is on the right track, another of the series that Greg Berlanti was preparing for HBO Max, Strange Adventures, was discarded by Warner Bros. Discovery.
Actor and writer Kevin Smith, who would be a writer for some episodes, confirmed this news on his podcast.
“(The cancellation of Strange Adventures) made sense to me, no one necessarily knows these characters, and it sounded like an expensive show”.
Strange Adventures was intended as an unconnected episodic show, similar to classic shows like The Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents, both of which marked an era in 1950s television.
