A few days ago a publication by a professional collector of Marilyn Monroe items came to light, where photographs were exposed that “evidence” of alleged damage to the icon’s dress that was worn at the 2022 Met Gala by Kim Kardashian. The socialite had not issued a response to these speculations, but in a recent interview conducted by the program Today to the businesswoman, she denied that she had caused any damage to the dress in the process of putting it on and wearing it.
When the presenter questioned if it is real that the dress is ruined, Kim answered with a resounding “No” and added that Ripley and she worked very well together, as there were handlers with gloves who put it on.

Kim also mentioned that it was quite a process, as it required excessive care to use it. In fact, the socialite claims that she appeared on the red carpet in a robe and slippers and put on the dress at the bottom of the carpet. Furthermore, she estimates that she had it on for three or four minutes.
Regarding the historical garment, Kim stated that she understands how much the dress means to history and since the theme of the Met was that, she thought it was a good idea to wear and remember Marlyn Monroe when she sang to her happy birthday to President John F. Kennedy.

Los Angeles-based museum Ripley’s Believe It or Not! also denied that there was any damage to the legendary dress, as Amanda Joiner, Vice President of Publishing and Licensing at Ripley’s, inspected the dress the same day it was published. it was used and returned.
