A couple of weeks ago, a new and hopefully bright horizon opened up for DC’s film division. The signing of James Gunn and Peter Safran to captain the label’s new film, television and animation division under the banner of DC Studios fed the hope that was lost after the SnyderVerse fell apart and after the numerous lurches it has hit Warner Bros Discovery since the landing of David Zaslav in the position of CEO.

Now, thanks to an internal company event, we’ve learned some details about Gunn and Safran’s plan for the Distinguished Competition characters. A strategy that, like the rebranding of the studio, points in the same direction as Marvel: a unique story articulated through a transmedia narrative in different productions. That’s how Safran dropped it.
“This is a unique opportunity to tell a great shared story. A beautiful and huge story through movies, series, video games, live action and animation.”
For his part, Gunn revealed that the idea is to materialize this vision throughout between eight and ten years.
“The opportunity to make DC as great as it can and should be is why I’m doing this job, because I know Peter and I can make it happen. We spent the last couple of days with a group of some of the best minds in DC. the industry, the best writers in the industry, starting to map out that eight- to 10-year plan and what it’s going to look like in theaters, on television, in animation, everywhere, for these characters.”
Finally, the director of ‘The Suicide Squad’ personally addressed Zaslavthanking him for his position on the project.
“I know you’re doing all of this because you love these characters too, and you love the possibility and the hope that they represent, and that’s been clear to us from the beginning. We never would have considered this if that wasn’t the case, so Thank you”.
