Obviously ‘Dragon Ball’ has been the basic inspiration for numerous mangakas and there is no shortage of animes that each year refer in some way to the work of Akira Toriyamawhich even ended up having a small homage in ‘Spirited Away’.
The tributes are not only in the field of animation and have also inspired action scenes in some of the Marvel titles such as ‘Ms. Marvel’ or ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’… but surprisingly It has also inspired Michael B. Jordan at a specific time of ‘Creed III’.
Each hero has his combat style.
It’s not a secret that Michael B. Jordan is a huge fan of anime, especially ‘Naruto’. Now that he’s directing the next installment of ‘Creed’ he’s also managed to sneak in some references to your favorite seriesor at least it has taken some of the combat spirit of its protagonists.
“Not geeking out too much… Well, you’ve seen a lot of fights during the ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ franchises, and I want to put my own spin on it,” Jordan said in an interview with IGN. “How I make these fights different, and you know from ‘Hajime no Ipo’, or ‘Megalo Box’, ‘Naruto’, or ‘Boku no Hero Academia’… In all these anime that I grew up with, there is an intrinsic spirit in how they fight.”
If we want to go with our eyes ready, Jordan confessed that during one of the fights there a punch inspired by ‘Dragon Ball Z’ that perhaps some fans already imagine where it can go.
“In the ‘Dragon Ball Z’ universe, there’s a kind of punch… And in my match with Damian there’s a ‘Dragon Ball Z’ punch that ended there,” the actor explained.
Not much remains to be seen if the reference to Toriyama’s work is so clear (and what others have ended up in the film), because ‘Creed III‘ arrives in theaters in Spain next March 3rd.
