Go days we are living with the filming of the new episodes and specials of the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’. We first learn the identity of the 14th doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, then David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be back for the festivities, and now we know the signing of Yasmin Finney.
The actress, whom we have just seen in the latest British Netflix phenomenon (‘Hearstopper’) has joined the cast of ‘Doctor Who’ as Rose. A fact that has left us very intrigued because in our hearts there is only one Rose and this one has the face of Billie Piper.
Rose
Is it a new character? An alternate version? We don’t know… and Russell T Daviesthe new (and old) showrunner of the series wants to keep the mystery:
“Life in Doctor Who gets brighter and wilder, how can there be another Rose? You’ll find out in 2023, but it’s an absolute joy to welcome Yasmin to the set of Doctor Who. We all fell in love with her on ‘Heartstopper’, one of those series that changes the world and now Yasmin can change the Whoniverse!”
Continuing with the mystery, from the BBC they assure that Yasmin Finney is currently shooting scenes that will be aired at the same time with the 60th anniversary of the series. In the actress’s own words:
“If 8-year-old Yasmin had been told that she would one day be a part of this iconic series, she wouldn’t have believed them in a million years. This series has a place in the hearts of so many people that being seen as a trans actress by the legend of Russell himself has not only given me the year, it gives me life. I can’t wait to start this journey and for you to see how Rose blooms. Prepare yourselves.”
