Russell Crowe almost played Satan in Thor: Love and Thunder, something we discovered a few weeks ago, now we get new even more terrifying images of what the actor would have looked like.

We recently found out that actor Russell Crowe almost played Satan in Thor: Love and Thunder instead of the almighty Greek god, Zeus, thanks to a concept art revealed by the artist Miles Teves which we shared a few days ago here. Now thanks to another fellow Miles artist, Ken Barthelmey, we discover new concept art of Crowe as the devil, even more terrifying than those we saw a few days ago, which reflects a much more threatening vision. You can see it below:

Concept I did for the latest #Thor at Odd Studio. I’ll post more work in the coming days! @russellcrowe was initially considered to appear as Satan in a cameo scene. Eventually I have played Zeus.

Thanks to Adam Johansen for bringing me on board.

The artist explains that at first Crowe’s character was going to be considered as a cameo, so at some point someone thought of giving the former Gladiator star a larger role, perhaps to facilitate the introduction of Hercules as well, and open the possible arc of Thor 5.

However, we cannot stop thinking about how the appearance of this character would have affected Phase 4. Bearing in mind that many of the theories that accompanied Wandavision Y Loki was that Mephisto was the great villain in the shadows, the presence of Satan would have fueled these theories even more. Keep in mind that Mephisto has been an enemy of the god of Thunder in the 70s, specifically in Thor #180-181, Astonishing Tales #8, and Thor #204-205. And that Marvel villain posed precisely as Satan also in the 70s / 80s in Marvel Spotlight #5; tormenting the first great family of superheroes in Fantastic Four #155-157 and Thor #310 and #325.

What would you have thought of the appearance of Satan even if it had been a cameo in the film?
