The paths of film premieres are sometimes inscrutable, and as an example we have this Thursday June 9 in which the cinematographic novelties in movie theaters have decided to be one day ahead of the usual. But don’t let that take away your desire for a good show, because today, as usual, there are great proposals for all kinds of audiences. Let’s review them!

The premieres of June 9, 2022

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ (2022)

  • Steven Spielberg himself was the one who asked Colin Trevorrow to direct this sequel and return to close the trilogy after his work on the first ‘Jurassic World’.

  • The film is shot combining a 35mm and 65mm negative, and shows once again that the photochemical is still very, very much alive.

  • According to Chris Pratt, it looks like ‘Dominion’ will be the last installment in the ‘World’ saga, but we already know that the box office is ultimately the boss…

  • With its duration of 2 hours and 26 minutes, it is the longest film in the entire franchise.

  • The Malta sequences are shot on location thanks to the tax incentives they began offering in 2019.

  • The film is set four years after what happened in ‘The Fallen Kingdom’ and, with it, Trevorrow intends to bring closure to what JA Bayona raised in his feature film.

  • More than 100 sets were built to be able to shoot the film.

‘The Deer King (‘Shika no Ō: Yuna to Yakusoku no Tabi’, 2021)

    • The film is directed by two industry veterans of the stature of Masayuki Miyaji and Masashi Ando, collaborators of the prestigious Studio Ghibli.

    • It is Masashi Ando’s first feature film as a director, but in his list of credits titles such as ‘Your Name’ or ‘Paprika’ can be seen, in which he served as animation director.

    • For his part, Miyaji has already directed feature films such as ‘Fuse’ or series such as ‘Eureka Siete’, and was assistant director on Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘Spirited Away’.

    • It is based on the novel by Japanese writer Nahoko Uehashi, published in 2014.

      ‘The volunteer’ (2022)

      • It is the new film by Nely Reguera, who debuted in 2016 with ‘María (y los otros)’ and whose last directing credit was in 2020, in the television series ‘Valeria’.

      • It stars Carmen Machi, Itsaso Arana and Dèlia Brufau.

      • It is a co-production between Spain and Greece, something understandable if we take into account that it revolves around a retired woman who decides to go and collaborate in a refugee camp in the neighboring country.

      • It arrives at our cinemas after passing through the official section of the latest edition of the Malaga Festival.

        Plus…

‘Mr. Wain’ (‘The Electrical Life of Louis Wain’, 2021)

        ‘Tenor’ (2022)

        ‘Ninjababy’ (2021)

‘The young lovers’ (‘Les jeunes amants’, 2021)

        ‘Finland’ (2021)

‘Return to Reims’ (‘Retour à Reims’, 2021)
