Max Alexander is a Californian boy who, according to his mother documents in networks and has told US media such as People, started making clothes at the age of four. Now she has seven, she sells her designs internationally and even receives commissions from celebrities. Also, as if all this were not already a real “wtf?” in itself, the story goes on and on plot twist surreal it has since the little one claims to have been Guccio Gucci in another life.

At the age when children struggle to learn to hold a pencil correctly and write their names, Max Alexander learned to sew with a machine and already knew how to name one of the most important figures in fashion history: Guccio Gucci. And it is that, the four-year-old boy claimed (and continues to do so) to have been the successful Italian designer and founder of the eponymous fashion label in a previous life.

Leaving aside this curious fact that, for obvious reasons, is unverifiable, the truth is that the kid seems to have an innate art for dressmaking. In an interview with the magazine Peoplehis mother (named Sherri Madison) has recounted that it was not that she accidentally discovered that her son had an aptitude for sewing but that it was he himself who announced it to her one day:

Max designed this dress by first putting an adult size petticoat around the neck of a child’s size dress form. 🤯 Can be worn with or without. Which do you like better?? #maxalexander #couturetothemax #fashiontiktok

“We were having dinner one day, during confinement, and he literally told us that he needed a mannequin. He said it very seriously, without laughing,” Madison explains to People. She was surprised by that request because her son had never shown interest in fashion before. However, he did not hesitate in her answer: “That’s because I don’t have a mannequin. If you can get me one, I’ll show you that I’m a fashion designer.”recounts what Max said.

So her mother, who worked as an artist with this material, made her a cardboard mannequin and as soon as she got her hands on it, she started making clothes. In fact, she Madison remembers how she ran to her husband’s office to come out and see what she was doing more: “It’s crazy”Told him.

Especially since the child, let’s remember that he was only four years old, had no previous experience or been exposed to that world. Although he does come from the family, well her great-grandparents and grandmother were all seamstresses. However, Madison claims that Max didn’t even know.

What do we think? Gucci @Gucci ? I admit, sadly I knew nothing about Gucci before this interview so that’s why you hear me sort of laughing at his answers from him. Until I googled them and saw how spot on many of them were 😬 💩 #maxalexander #gucci #fashionicons

After having made half a dozen pieces assembled with knots and ribbon, Max asked his mother to learn how to sew. Despite some initial qualms about her young age, Madison took the machine out of her and classes began. For two weeks, however, she just let him watch it be done. But, when she finally began to sew by herself, Madison says he did it very fast. And he soon surpassed the skills of his own mother, who ended up signing him up for classes at a school.

When it comes to the design, pattern-making and other aspects of making a garment, Madison says that that was it. an intuitive process for your child based on “trial and error” since she had no idea how to do it.

Since then, Max has designed more than 100 garments, has seen his creations paraded and has even been commissioned by Sharon Stone for a jacket. His goal, of course, is to be, one day, the creative director of Gucci.
