After 15 years of the fourth episode of the saga, the 80-year-old Hollywood starreturned to the Croisette, this time under the direction of James Mangold.

Both Ford and Disney, which bought the rights to the Indiana Jones saga, have already assured that this time is the last.

The Cannes Film Festival wanted to honor him in a special way, and gave him an honorary Palme d’Or by surprise, just before the screening of the film. Tom Cruise received the same honor at the premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick” last year.

Visibly moved, Ford, who has played countless well-known charactersfrom Han Solo in Star Wars to Blade Runnersaid he was “deeply moved” by this reward.

On his way down the red carpet, the actor, dressed in a dark suit and bow tie, accompanied by his wife, Calista Flockhart, caused a stir among the audience, especially when the famous music from the saga, composed by John Williams, sounded.

Other cast members were also at the premiere, such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, from the series fleabag, or Mads Mikkelsen. Antonio Banderas, who also participates in the film, did not travel to the Croisette.

Other personalities that could be seen on the red carpet include the British director Steve McQueen, the French rapper OrelSan or the chieftain Raoni Metuktire, an emblem of the indigenous struggle in Brazil.

The first four episodes of the saga were directed by Steven Spielberg.who in 2008 went to Cannes for the presentation of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”

The action of this new chapter takes place at the end of the 1960s, but the writers have included a “flashback” that has required Ford’s face to be “rejuvenated” by artificial intelligence for several minutes, another example of the changes that are coming in the audiovisual field.
