“Hello everyone, I’m still not ready to compete at the highest level. I won’t be able to play in one of the most important tournaments of my career, Monte Carlo,” Nadal said in a message on his Twitter account.<\/p>\n

“I am not yet in a position to play with the maximum guarantees and I continue my preparation process, hoping to return soon,” added the Spanish tennis player, number 14 in the world, who won the tournament eleven times.<\/p>\n

Nadal, who was already absent in Indian Wells and the Miami Masters 1000, expected to return to competition in Monaco for the clay season, but has finally decided to delay his return to the courts a little longer.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has not competed since he lost in the second round in Australia against the American Mackenzie McDonald (January 18), a match in which Nadal suffered a “grade 2 injury to the iliopsoas” of his left leg, with a recovery period Estimated between “6 to 8 weeks”.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz returned to Spain after losing in the semifinal of the Miami Tournament against the Italian Jannik Sinner, in a match in which he ended up with cramps<\/p>\n
