We don’t know if ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ will win the Oscar for best animated film on March 13, but it is certainly one of the animated jewels of 2022. The director of the film spoke about the importance of the scene in which the Cat has a panic attack<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“They are important feelings”<\/h2>\n

Both in the ‘Shrek’ saga and in the first ‘Puss in Boots’ movie, the character shows off his overwhelming personality and his incredible swordsmanship. However, ‘The Last Wish’ shows us his most vulnerable face<\/strong> realizing that he only has one of his seven lives left.<\/p>\n

At one point in the movie, Cat looks overwhelmed and has a panic attack<\/strong> which paralyzes him until his faithful companion Perrito helps him calm down and control his breathing.<\/p>\n

The director, Joel Crawford, decided to include this scene and approach it in a realistic way because he considers it important for children and adults who these topics are also treated from fiction<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

We know a lot of people who have to deal with anxiety or suffer from panic attacks ourselves. Children know how to process these scenes, sometimes even better than adults, and I think it can be very helpful for people to see themselves if they realize that these scenes are clearly created from something that actually happens.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A scene for which they were not afraid to take their time and use sound effects to create a contrast between the hectic pace of the adventure and the moment when everything comes to a standstill<\/strong> when experiencing a panic attack:<\/p>\n

Of course, animation is used to escape, in these fairy tale worlds. But what we were looking for was that, under that fairy tale appearance, there was room for realism with the Cat’s panic attack.
