Surely, you remember the first film adaptation of Matilda,<\/em> a beautiful work and a classic by Roald Dahl, who gave us unforgettable characters like Tronchatoro, Matilda’s parents and, of course, Miss Honey.<\/p>\n

However, now with the new adaptation of Netflix some controversies have arisen among viewers, who have given different opinions for not being satisfied with the cast and have even debated and shared that, for many, Miss Honey from the 1996 version was a gay icon.<\/p>\n

According to netizens, for some girls it was her \u201clesbian awakening\u201d, while others assumed she was a lesbian because of her independence and not having a boyfriend or husband. Of course, this wouldn’t mean that all women who are independent and don’t have a boyfriend or husband are gay, but users came to that conclusion and the new Miss Honey, played by Lashana Lynch, recognized this.<\/p>\n

The actress explained that “it was not something I was aware of”, but that a friend queer<\/em> he told her that, indeed, Matilda’s sweet teacher from the first adaptation was like a gay icon when she grew up.<\/p>\n
