Who are these designers?

They are women who, with their works, have marked their path in Latin American design, and whose works are part of the exhibition Design in feminine. Mexico 1940-2022, in the Franz Mayer museum.

Its objective is to function as a first approach to the design generated by women between those years that encourages reflection on the advances and achievements made by them in an industry dominated by men.

It is an exhibition co-curated by Ana Elena Mallet and Pilar Obeso, and that more than a historical and fundamentalist review, seeks to celebrate, review, document and recognize the work of almost four generations of women who chose design as their profession and His way of life.

Design in feminine. Mexico 1940-2022 explores the different trends and aspects that have governed the supposedly feminine imaginary and practice of design in the last 80 years: from weaving, embroidery and textiles; going through the concepts of the “handmade” and the industrial.

In this exposition which will be open to the public until April 16, 2023, the series of portraits of the designers made by Ana Hop are displayed, embodied in a mural that serves as an opportunity to celebrate her career in the field.
