Britain’s independent press standards organization (IPSO) said on Tuesday it had received more than 17,500 complaints, the most for any article since it was created in 2014.<\/p>\n

“While the public absolutely deserves the publication’s apologies for its dangerous comments, we would not be in this situation if The Sun did not continue to profit from and exploit hate, violence and misogyny,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said.<\/p>\n

“A real apology would be a change in their coverage and ethical standards for everyone. Unfortunately, we don’t expect that to happen any time soon.”<\/p>\n

More than 60 legislators signed a letter written by Caroline Nokes, chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Women and Equality, addressed to the director of The Sun, warning him that this type of article contributes to creating a climate of hatred and violence against women.<\/p>\n

In a statement posted on Twitter on Monday, Clarkson said he was “appalled to have caused so much damage” and would be “more careful in the future.”<\/p>\n

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as Harry and Meghan are officially known, stepped down from their royal roles in March 2020, saying they wanted to make new lives in the United States away from media bullying.<\/p>\n

In a Netflix documentary series, Meghan discussed how her treatment by the media had made her feel suicidal, as well as worrying that she and her children were safe.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
