The new star of ‘The Crown’, Ed McVey, is seen for the first time on the filming set of the sixth season of the famous Netflix series in which he will give life to the young Prince William.

The 21-year-old actor looked stylish in a black blazer, blue shirt and beige pants while filming scenes for the hit show’s sixth season.

McVey appeared in high spirits as he left the set in a car carrying a bag and a bouquet of flowers after his first day of filming.

In addition to Ed, 16-year-old Rufus Kampa will also play Prince William at a different stage in his life, depicting his teenage years and showing how he and the royal family coped with the death of Princess Diana.

Ed will appear in several episodes alongside Meg Bellamy, who has been cast as the current Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.

Ed and Meg will play the couple during the period when their romance blossomed while they were studying at the University of St Andrews.

Ed, who will play the prince in the early 2000s with scenes showing how he fell in love with his fellow Art History student, graduated from Drama Center London in 2021.

“Ahhhhh the big news is out now! I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to play Prince William in #TheCrown in Series 6! Alongside the amazing @megkbellamy. This is going to be an amazing shoot, can’t wait to learn as much as I can!” McVey wrote on his Instagram account.

Appearances by Meg, Ed and Rufus will follow the cast of season five, with several familiar names and new faces taking on the roles of various members of the British royal family.

The final two series of ‘The Crown’ will cover the history of the royal family throughout the 1990s and up to 2003, however, it is not yet known which moments will be seen in it.

Will there be a sequel to ‘The Crown’?

In July, it was reported that a change in the ending of ‘The Crown’ sparked rumors of a follow-up that leaves open the possibility of a sequel based on Charles, William and Harry and could even feature the “Megxit”.

Netflix bosses urged Peter Morgan, 59, to take the royal family story further, and now, the creators have altered the series 6 finale, “The Sun” reported.

Season 5 of the Netflix hit aired on November 9, while season 6 would be the final installment in the Windsor story and would air next year.

Series 6 was originally supposed to conclude in 2002, being the year the Queen lost her sister Princess Margaret as well as her mother, but 2005 is now set to be the new completion date.

And this will be with the wedding of Charles and Camilla, “marking the beginning of an era”. This change last year could leave room for a sequel in the story that could delve into then-Prince Charles and his sons, William and Harry.
