The Internet is dark and harbors horrors. Sometimes it is difficult to discern how much reality there is in the stories that circulate on the net, some as crazy as Martin Scorsese kicking Cristiano Ronaldo out of a movie Based on the life of the man who claimed to be the original Christian Grey.

From footballer to “manipulator”

It was in 2015 when various media reported that the now former Real Madrid player had been expelled from ‘El manipulador’. The movie was going to revolve around Alessandro Protothe businessman who, supposedly, served as inspiration to create Christian Gray.

Initially, the project was to be directed by Martin Scorsese and Ronaldo was going to participate together with the model Alessandra Ambrosio, with whom the footballer had in hand “a secret project”.

According to various news portals, it was himself Alessandro Proto the one who removed the athlete from the film, alleging that “I didn’t want him in a movie about his life” and that Scorsese “agreed with him”. In addition, it was said that Ronaldo would be compensated with 20 million euros for not finally appearing in the film.

Despite the statements and specific data, later Ronaldo’s representatives denied his involvement in said project and they denounced the person responsible for spreading false information about him: neither more nor less than Alessandro Proto himself.

According to what Proto himself declared afterwards, he began spreading hoaxes about public figures in 2009, when he became interested in George Clooney’s property on Lake Como. He continued using this practice that allowed him to earn millions in the sale of mansions until he was sentenced for financial market manipulation to three years in prison.

After this he was placed under house arrest for a time, at which point he devised his following ruse: spread the news of the fake biopic about his life:

I was arrested and I was bored, so I thought about what to do. I chose the best director in the world and the leading actors; It was crazy, I was adding artists little by little, big celebrities (Channing Tatum, Alessandra Ambrosio and even Clooney for a cameo), nobody wondered anything, it was amazing.

If there was any truth to this delusional story, we will never know. What is certain is that it would have been curious to see a film about the life of this surreal character, and with Scorsese and Ronaldo in front.
