A person’s daily caloric needs vary slightly by gender and age, ranging from 1,800 to 2,600 calories per day. Brian Shaw is a healthy and active adult, but 2,600 calories won’t be enough. So how much does he eat?

Generally, 2,600 calories is not even enough calories for a single meal. For Shaw, the “active” part of his lifestyle includes competing in high-level strongman competitions, including World’s Strongest Man. Shaw has won four times and has placed at the top of those competitions a few more. To win an event like that, which includes exercises like lifting Atlas rocks (more than 175 kilos), pressing with weights up to 378 kilos and pulling vehicles from buses, fire trucks or airplanes. Therefore, Shaw has to spend a lot of time exercising and training with immense amounts of weight.

He also has to eat a lot of food every day that he trains or competes. Just as a sufficient amount of food helps maintain a weight that often exceeds 200 kilos while preparing for an event. That gives you thousands of calories to burn each day and enough protein to build muscles that can literally lift cars.

Eat 4 times the amount of someone normal

But it’s not that fun. One of the hardest parts of being the strongest man in the world is eating. As he begins training for an upcoming event, he will seek to consume 8,000 calories a day, about. Then build up to bigger challenges, reaching the 10,000 to 11,000 calories a day range.

When Shaw is training for a big competition, the choice is meat. Daily introduces in a meal half a kilo of meat (weighed after cooking, with the water evaporated). Without a doubt, a huge amount of food that is not recommended to do it daily for months. However, in his opinion, for a strength athlete, red meat always offers the best reward. The only time meat isn’t the star of his meal is breakfast. Breakfast is usually eight scrambled eggs with two cups of rice and orange juice blended with spinach; the rest of the day is devoted to meat. For some of her meals she also adds apples, blackberries and blueberries. There is always plenty of rice and sometimes it has a spinach salad as a side dish.

Complete with smoothies and cake

Shaw also relies on shakes while training. He finds it difficult to chew as much as he needs. He eats six full meals, as well as a shake and various supplements while training. He assures that the worst thing of all is to eat so much. He eats from the time he wakes up in the morning until he goes to bed at night.

Still, Shaw allows himself the “cheating” treats occasional: the cheesecake. She worked with a nutritionist who literally scheduled cheat meals during Shaw’s grueling exercise and diet routine. Thus, the athlete knew that from time to time he could include that favorite food and, therefore, he could enjoy eating. However, unlike us, Shaw is known to eat four pieces of cheesecake in one sitting. Almost nothing.
