On October 16, when Young Sook An, a 42-year-old American woman, filed for divorce from her abusive husband Chae Kyong An, 53, the man kidnapped her from her home and injured her before burying her in a wooded area. , in the state of Washington.
Although Young somehow managed to send an emergency notification through his Apple Watch, the man took the watch and smashed it with a hammer. Later, according to police, the military veteran bound the woman with duct tape, stabbed her in the chest multiple times, and then buried her alive in the woods in a shallow grave.
After putting her in the grave, she heard her husband walk around the dug hole and cover it with dirt.

Before finding her whereabouts, the agents went through the couple’s house, but her children said that her parents had left. At the scene, officers also found a half-used roll of duct tape.
According to the investigation, when Young was found, she was still wrapped in duct tape around her neck, chin and ankles. In addition, she had multiple bruises on her legs, arms, and head, and her clothes were covered in dirt.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for observation, where she said she tried to breathe by turning her body so the earth wouldn’t suffocate her under the grave.
Meanwhile, Kyong was detained by the authorities. Police reported that Young’s husband allegedly assaulted her due to discussions about her divorce and her property division. In addition, the woman stated that he had threatened her before her, telling her that he “preferred to kill her rather than give her pension.”
According to Washington state prosecutors, Chae Kyong An is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, and stalking with threat of manslaughter.
