Technology is a double-edged sword, as it can help us a lot, but it also works against us if we don’t use it responsibly. Proof of this is the use of filters for our photos, as there are some that totally change our structure and with this we can project something that we are not really.
It is not the first time that it happens that someone only knows each other virtually and when they meet in real life, they seem like two completely different people. Just like it happened to Ninoska Rodríguez, a TikTok user who shared her story.
A video shared by Ninoska recently went viral, where she narrates that she had a long-distance relationship, but after a while, her boyfriend paid her a ticket to travel to Washington so they could meet in person.
But what would be her surprise that when it came time to face him, the boy no longer wanted her because, apparently, she didn’t look as pretty as in her photos. According to him, he comments, the young woman abused the filters that he put on her photos and now he no longer wanted anything with her.

The clip almost reached six million views. In addition, the comment box was filled with divided opinions. On the one hand, some users told him that it was important to appear natural and that this happened to him for deceiving people. On the other hand, more people preferred to advise him to have fun, total, the trip was already paid for.
Actually I am guilty for abusing the filters, he should have given himself the opportunity to get to know me more thoroughly.

The girl always responds to comments with emoji smiling, without offering more information, for which reason Internet users have begun to doubt the veracity of the story, since in reality it does not show any proof that this has happened, she only appears walking through what appears to be an airport. As the end of the story, Ninoska uploaded one last clip where she explains that she deleted the messages with her crush and went on with her life.
The funniest thing of all is that in this last clip, Ninoska shows her face and wears filters, for which she was showered with mocking comments saying that she “didn’t learn her lesson.”

Be that as it may, it can help us reflect on what image we are projecting to people through a screen. After all, everything in excess is bad. Do you think something similar could ever happen to you?
