In April 2022, an American woman reported her husband missing. After several attempts by the police to locate it, eight months later, during the first days of December, it was she herself who finally found it in the closet of her house while she was looking for decorations to put up the Christmas tree.
The missing man was in a part of the closet that was somewhat hidden. In addition, incredible as it may seem, the police attributed the smell that was perceived in the house to the amount of objects and garbage that these accumulators kept in their home.
On April 27, Richard Maedge, 53, was reported missing by his wife Jennifer. The police went to the family’s home to search the house on two occasions, but were unable to find anything. On that occasion, the agents commented that there was a persistent smell like sewage, but they thought it was the typical aroma that accumulator houses give off.
Eight months later, Jennifer entered a part of her bedroom closet, which had a kind of hidden storage room, where they used to hang the decorations they used in the holiday season. However, the woman froze when she found the lifeless body of her husband and she immediately reported it to the authorities.
The coroners published in their report that Richard had committed suicide, having been found hanging in the bedroom closet. In addition, since his body had already been mummified, this prevented him from continuing to give off any odor.
Richard’s sister, Marilyn Toliver, revealed her annoyance with the police department, as she believes that they could have made a greater effort in their investigation. However, in an interview for Fox 2, the widow thanked the authorities for her participation in the case.
Although we didn’t want the result we had, we can now put it to rest.
Finally, Jennifer stated that as authorities searched for Richard, she felt as if her husband’s presence was close to her.
